Since I want to ask this question in "politics," can anybody identify how actions by government and political leaders either added to the intensity of each business crisis, or helped to resolve it, or both?
Also, does anybody have a list of what the worst financial panics and/or recessions and/or depressions have been, when they occurred?|||there have been several, the worst I would guess would be the crash of the stock market in 1929 everyone with money in banks lost everything as there was no protection as there is now|||Most financial downturns in this nation's history have ended when our country has gone to war. There is almost always a boom, followed by a crash, followed by a recession, followed by a war, followed by another boom. Though not a complete list, here are some examples : The "Gay Nineties" period of economic boom in the 1890's, then a downturn in the economy with a recession from 1902-1904 and several financial "panics", followed by another short recession in 1912-14, then WWI, then the "Roaring Twenties" period of boom starts the whole cycle off again. Obviously, next there was the Great Depression, followed by WWII, then the economic boom of the 1950's. Then we hit a couple more recessionary periods in the late 50's-early 60's, then off to war again in Vietnam. The 1970's were mostly in economic turmoil, and we didn't recover until we hit another boom in the 1980's, followed by another recession in the 1990's, another war (Desert Storm), though be it a short one, followed by another boom (the dotcom boom) and the ultimate crash. War again in Iraq and Afghanistan, but this time, it is taking awhile for us to pull out of economic hard times.|||There have been way too many to actually list out.
If you look in Ron Paul's book "End the Fed," you will find the list you want. It's very long. Ironically, most recessions/depressions have occurred after the establishment of the Federal Reserve.|||We have always had recessions. We've had 11 since 1950.
The invisible hand always does it's job. Government needs to get out of the way of the American entrepreneur and watch things happen.|||Many and it's always the same the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
